Michael Paul Sherman, also known as Mike by friends and family, a beloved lifelong resident of Lynn, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on September 23, 1964, in Lynn, he remained deeply rooted in his community throughout his life, touching countless lives with his strength, loyalty, and generous spirit. Michael was the devoted husband of Cheryl Sherman and a proud father to Shalyn Sherman. He also played a guiding and loving role in the lives of his stepchildren, Monte Wolfe and Shyanne Wolfe. He also helped raise Shalyn’s older sister, Shianne. His greatest joys were his grandchildren, who called him “Big Boy”—Armani Rosario and Rumir Santana, who lit up his world with their smiles, energy, and accomplishments. He was the cherished son of the late Sarah and Roosevelt Sherman. Mike grew up alongside his brothers Robert, Russell and Joseph Sherman, forming lifelong bonds and many joyful memories together around their childhood home. He shared a close bond with his extended family, including his many cousins, who were more like siblings to him Michael’s presence could be felt far beyond his family circle.
He formed lasting friendships that became chosen family through his years working at West Lynn Creamery in Lynn and Hogan Regional Center in Danvers. His dedication, humor, and willingness to lend a hand made him unforgettable to all who worked alongside him. He was the proud owner of A&M Ringside, where he formed close bonds with all his customers. After deciding to close the bar, those customers remained his friends and family. A man of discipline and passion, Michael found his calling in the world of mixed martial arts. He poured his heart into Sherman’s MMA, the gym he built not just as a place to train, but as a haven of encouragement, self-growth, and community. There, he mentored and inspired many, offering not only techniques but life lessons, laughter, and unwavering support.
Michael’s impact extended far and wide. Whether through a quiet word of advice, a helping hand, or a tough-but-loving coaching session, he shaped the lives of those around him in immeasurable ways. His legacy lives on in every life he touched with family, friends, and fellow fighters carrying forward his spirit of strength, loyalty, and love. Many have called Mike their SUPERHERO! He will be remembered always for his huge heart, fierce loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family, both by blood and by bond.
The Family would like to recognize Kaplan Family Hospice House for their unwavering support and amazing care.
