Born in Boston, he was the son of the late James M. and Judith (Herring) Wakely. He attended Boston Schools and was a graduate of South Boston High School. He had been a resident of Lynn since 1989, previously residing in Malden.
Michael worked in the Construction Department of General Electric. He enjoyed boxing and was a former weightlifter.
He leaves his brother, Richard J. Wakely of Saugus and his longtime caretaker, Tina Messenger of Lynn. He was the uncle of Tim Carney of Peabody and Richard Carney of Saugus. He also leaves his Boston terrier, Phantom.
Michael’s Funeral Service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-7PM.
