

Rev. Philip J. DesRosiers, age 84, formerly of Lynn, passed away on October 12, 2025, in the Metro West Medical Center, Framingham. He was born in Lynn on January 20, 1941, was raised in Lynn, and was the son of the late Helen A. (Francis) DesRosiers, and of the late Philip J. DesRosiers. He graduated from St. Mary's Boys High School, Lynn, Class of 1958.
Father DesRosiers graduated from St. John's Seminary, Boston, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology in 1966, and was ordained to the priesthood in May of that year for the Archdiocese of Boston. He served in the following parishes:
1966 - 1968 Parochial Vicar, St James the Apostle, Arlington,
1968 – 1970 Parochial Vicar, St Mary Star of the Sea, East Boston,
1974 – 1975 Parochial Vicar, St Mary Star of the Sea, East Boston,
1975 – 1972 Chaplain, Mary Immaculate Health Care Services, Lawrence,
1975 – 1976 Technical Assistant, St Michael, North Andover,
1976 – 1977 Parochial Vicar, St Michael, North Andover,
1977 – 1978 Parochial Vicar, Our Lady of Grace, Chelsea,
1978 -1990 Team Ministry, St. Edward the Confessor, Medfield,
1990 – 2001 Pastor, St. Joseph, Everett.
He retired In September of 2007.
He leaves a sister Lorraine A. Cronin of Framingham, formerly of Lynn, and was the brother-in-law of the late Atty. Frederick R. "Freddy" Cronin.
His Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 9:00 am to 9:45 am in St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lynn.
