

Phyllis Veronica (Player) Guerin was born on October 28, 1917 to William H. Jr. and Catherine Veronica (Collins) Player. She was the widow of Henry V. “Bud” Guerin. Mother of Larry V. Guerin of Colorado Springs, CO. Phyllis was predeceased by her daughter, Linda V. Guerin in 1968. She was the sister of Edward Player of Brooksby Village, Peabody, MA. Phyllis was the aunt of Kathleen and Jeffrey Donohoe of Contoocook, NH and their children Slattery and Cassidy; Michael and Mona Player of Northfield, NH and their children, Luke and Timothy; Bonnie and Kris Hipolito and their son, Liam; Emily and Steve Pupper and their daughter Vivian; Colby; Mary Ellen and Stephen Opacki of Nahant, MA and their daughter Melanie; William and Catherine Player of Washington, DC and their son Henry.
Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Lynn and was fortunate to maintain friendships throughout her life with Mary P. Donnelly and Marguerite Shea that started in grade school. Her family and friends and their families were important to Phyllis, she was interested in and kept up with the activities and accomplishments of each generation. She was am enthusiastic and knowledgeable New England collegiate and professional sports fan, passionately following the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots.
After graduating from St. Mary’s Girls High in 1936, Phyllis worked at Ceil Taylor Fashions in Swampscott, the Boy’s Club and The Lynn Gas Company. Rejoining the workforce after raising her family, Phyllis worked at Sea Crest Auto; she retired from the General Electric Insurance Office in 1987.
Phyllis was able to remain in her home until recently with the support and attention of family, friends and the team at Partners At Home Healthcare. She looked forward to their daily morning and evening phone calls with Larry after he moved to Colorado Springs in 2007. Daily phone calls and weekly visits with her brother Eddie, daily visits and help with errands from her cousin, Shirley Starion and family friend, Jerry Powers. Visits, phone calls and cards from friends, nieces and nephews, shopping trips with her cousin, Anne Marie Brewin-Liston.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the dedicated and compassionate Care Dimensions Palliative Care Team who made such a positive contribution to her quality of life while Phyllis was a resident at Grosvenor Park, whose nurses, aides, staff and residents welcomed her into her new home.
Her advice when asked the secret of a long life was, “Keep your mind sharp.”
Phyllis’ Funeral Service will be held at the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME 157 Maple St., Lynn on Monday June 8, 2015 at 11AM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5PM. Family and friends are welcome.
