

Mr. Robert L. Bowden, age 74, of Lynn, passed away, on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband to Dorothy A. (Bourbeau) Bowden, of 55 years before “The Twelveth of Never”.
He was the son of the late Howard and Edith (Clark) Bowden. A lifelong resident of Lynn, he attended Lynn Public Schools before enlisting in the military service at the age of 17. A proud patriot, Bob served with the United States Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (Seabees), stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the “Missile Crisis”
A multiple award-winning salesman, he was the first manager of the Thom McAn shoe store at the North Shore Shopping Center. A selflessly giving person, Bob was a natural teacher who took many young business people under his wing. Bob also owned New Life Furniture Refinishing and Upholstering. His love of adventure, people and professional salesmanship led him and his wife into embarking on several entrepreneurial ventures.
A voracious reader, Bob could be found reading in his arm chair, in a library or at any bookstore on the North Shore. He loved watching western films, collecting, flea marketing, discussing politics, life and sharing his immense heart with everyone. But most of all, Bob enjoyed spending time with his large family.
In addition to his loving wife Dorothy, he leaves his children Richard and his wife Carol of Seabrook, NH, Laurence and his wife Stephanie of Lynn, Cheryl and her husband Steven Pescia of Londonderry, NH, Ronald and wife Dianne of Northwood, NH and Daniel and his wife Tara of Methuen. He leaves his 12 beloved grandchildren Christopher, Sarah, Jackie, Tyler, Ben, Missy, Jillian, Mikey, Ashley Bowden and Jason, Andrew, Christina and the late Steven Pescia. He leaves his two, beloved sisters, Linda Bowden, Priscilla and her husband Kenneth Sharpe. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews and his best friend of many years, Harold Murphy.
Robert’s Funeral will be from the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday at 9:30 AM. His Funeral Services will be in St. Pius V Church 215 Maple Street, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 1:00-5:00 PM.
