

Robert “Bob” Martin O’Brien, 87, a lifelong resident of Lynn, MA passed away peacefully on May 19th, at the life care center of the Northshore in Lynn. Robert was born on November 11, 1931 to the late Martin O’Brien and Ellen (McCarthy) O’Brien.
He was the loving brother to Jean Moran of, FL; the beloved uncle of Richard O’Brien , Mary O’Brien, Kevin Moran, Kathleen Moran, Sharon Moran, Thomas Sadoski, John Sadoski, Janet Sadoski, Joanne Sadoski. In addition to his parents Robert was predeceased by his siblings Edward Obrien, Mary O’Brien, and Rita Sadoski as well as his nephews Robert O’Brien, James O’Brien, and Alan Sadoski, and nieces Christine Moran and Kathleen Sadoski.
At the age of twenty Bob joined the United States Army in 1952. During his time he was deployed and served in North Africa, Italy and Germany where he lived for two years, before he was discharged in 1955. After his time in the Army Robert had worked for the United States Government in the department of National Security for ten years, then in 1966 he began to work at Champion Die in, Lynn. During his time at Champion Die he worked on the production of cutting dies and worked there until the Great Lynn Fire, in 1981.
With a keen ear, Bob was an enthusiastic music lover. He adored jazz, and he wasn’t afraid to give critiques about what was being played on the radio. When he wasn’t engrossed in his music, you could often find Bob going for long walks through Lynn Woods or down the coast on Lynn Beach. He also was an avid hockey fan and most of all a devoted Boston Bruins fan. Bob was among the intrepid Beanpot Tournament fans stranded in Boston Garden during the Blizzard of 1978.
Bob’s visiting hours will be in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church on, 8 S Common St, Lynn, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Josephs Cemetery on 134 Broadway, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of the Lynn Public Library.
