

Scott Ellis Staples, 67, of Lynn, passed away with his loving wife by his side on Thursday, January 25, 2024. He was born on July 4, 1956 to the late Ellis F. Staples and Joanne (Shute) Tranfaglia. Scott was a lifelong Lynn resident and was very dedicated to the city. He was the beloved husband of Kimberly G. (Sawin) Staples, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.
Scott graduated from Lynn Classical High School and then went on to further his education by earning his Master’s Degree in Education from Salem State College in 1988. In his early teaching days, he taught at the St. Pius V School, then transitioned to Lynn Public Schools for 35 years until his retirement in 2019 from Shoemaker Elementary School. Scott spent his Summers working at Camp Rotary in Boxford as an Office Administrator.
Scott was the step-son to Nancy Staples, the son-in-law to the late Peter and Shirley Sawin, the brother to his twin sister, Susan Staples (Carrie), Michael Staples (Linda), Kim St. Ives (Brian), and Kelly Murphy, the brother-in-law to Scott Sawin, and the nephew of Jacqueline Morelli.
Uncle Skeet will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, Corey Lafontant (Vladimir), Erin Plummer, Kimberly Sawin, Mac St. Ives, Sidney St. Ives, Samantha St. Ives, and Luke Murphy, great nieces and nephews, Sophia, Phoebe, and Humphrey Lafontant, Stephen Clements-Lafontant, and Johnathan Falasca-Plummer, and many cousins.
Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 10:30 am in the St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn – please meet directly at church. Burial will be held at a later date.
