

Born in Lynn, “Stu” was the son of the late Stewart H. Sutcliffe and Hazel I. (Emerton) Sutcliffe, who passed away this past May. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1965 and Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY in 1970.
An avid skier, Stu moved to Vermont after graduating from college and apprenticed with an architectural firm before receiving his state license. He then established his own firm and practiced what he loved for 40 years. He was the past president of the Vermont Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Stu loved skiing, photography, and travel. He will be missed by his family and the many friends he acquired over the years.
He leaves a cherished aunt, Shirley Emerton of Saugus, his partner, Jeffrey Rice of VT; cousins, David Emerton of Lynn, Robert Emerton of Haymarket, VA, Margot Marino of Plymouth, MA, Nancy Cannon of Brewster, MA, Richard Lecour of CA and George Argetes of MI. He was also a close cousin to the late Jeffrey Emerton of Lynn and Ipswich. He will also be greatly missed by Charlene, Delores and Leanne Emerton.
Visiting Hours will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Sunday from 2-5PM followed by a Funeral Service at 5:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Gifts in Stu’s memory may be sent to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St. Danvers, MA 01923.
