
Born in Lynn, Walter was the son of the late Lawrence J. and Annie T. (Hennessey) Furey. A lifelong Lynn resident, he was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School Class of 1950. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Marines.
Prior to his retirement in 1987, he spent many years as a Supervisor for the United States Postal Service in Swampscott. He was also a communicant of St. Pius Church in Lynn.
Surviving him are his sisters, Margaret Crowley and Theresa Furey both of Lynn; his cousin, Deborah A. Carter and her family of Lynn and many nieces and nephews, including Gerry Keniston of NH. He was also brother of the late Ellen Keniston, Rosemary, Frances, Francis, Michael, Nicholas, Laurence, William, Charles, Donald and John Furey.
His Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Thursday at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius Church at 11 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation prior to Mass beginning at 9 AM.
