Mr. William A. Rooney, age 85 years, of Brooks St. East Boston, formerly of Dorchester, died at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Page) Rooney with whom he spent 60 years of marriage. Born in Boston he was the son of the late John F. and Annie (Manning) Rooney. He attended Boston Schools. Mr. Manning was employed as a street sweeper for the City of Boston for 43 years until he retired in 1978. He was also employed as a security guard for Alpha Security for over 20 years. He volunteered as a custodian at St. Peter's Church in Dorchester. He is survived by two daughters Dorothy Lucas of Brockton, Anne M. Rooney of East Boston, one brother Francis Rooney of Falmouth, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Monday at 8:00 PM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Monday. His ashes will be buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester.
