Amelia was born in Boxelder, Montana, November 20, 1921 to Gustav and Anna Marie Graf. She entered the presence of Jesus on November 28, 2016 a week after her 95th birthday at Brookdale Home in Everett, WA. When she was three years old, she moved with her family to Turtle Lake, North Dakota. Later they moved to Burleigh County where she was a part of the Regan community. It was there she met Arnold Plienis from Arena, ND, who she married October 26, 1939. They were married for 68 years upon Arnold’s death in 2008. Amelia and Arnold had 3 children, Kenneth, Donna and Ronald.
As a child, Amelia worked a lot on the farm and mostly in the home, cooking and cleaning and caring for the younger children. She learned lifetime skills on the farm and would cook, can, and entertain abundantly. At 11 she had her first job and was helping out in someone’s home who lived 50 miles from her home. A long way to be away from home for an 11 year old who rarely saw or heard from her family. She stayed there for almost a year.
In 1951 they moved to Bismarck, ND and Arnold began working in the drywall business. In 1960 they moved to Lynnwood, WA where Arnold started his own business, Plienis Drywall. Amelia did all the bookwork and finances for their business as well as caring for her home and children.
Arnold and Amelia attended Westgate Chapel and were very active in the senior’s group there. Amelia loved to entertain and cook and her home was always filled with people. They loved social times with their friends and family. They loved to travel and would visit friends and family in North Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, California, Oregon and Montana. They spent 17 winters in Arizona as “Snow Birds” in their RV where they met many new friends, living their golden years at their best.
Amelia is survived by her daughter Donna, (Robert), her son Ronald, (Laurie), 3 grandsons, Ryan Ramaekers, David Plienis and Jeffrey Plienis, great grand-children Oliver and Lauren Ramaekers, and 2 sisters, Elsie and Lorentine, (Bing).
