On October 8, 2021, the world lost a bright light when Cherie Diane Lutz peacefully passed away at home. Cherie was born September 5,1970 to Russell and Dianna Oberg. She enjoyed an amazing childhood in the Bothell area being big sister to Tricia and Melinda-two of the most important people in her life.
Cherie was a proud Inglemoor Vikings cheerleader, varsity tennis player and graduated with Honors in 1988. After high school, she attended Western Washington University with her best friend Shannon Gordon(Berg) and then the University of Washington and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science.
Cherie met her husband Perry in high school, and married in 1992. They spent a few years enjoying the “honeymoon stage” of their marriage by traveling the world before having their two beautiful boys Jackson (19) and Landon (15). As a family of four, their adventures continued with many exciting trips, UW Husky football and Sounder games, weekly extended family gatherings, and weekends at their cabin in Eastern Washington. While raising two amazing boys, the family also had many dogs that acted as additional children. To say Cherie was a “dog lover” would be a huge understatement. Cherie also loved hosting parties for family and friends and cooking extravagant meals for everyone. Nothing made her happier than bringing people together.
Cherie enjoyed a long career as a well-respected business development manager at Microsoft. She was the positive energy in every business meeting and event she attended. She brought new ideas and strategy to every project she touched. She loved every moment of her career at Microsoft, and her colleagues were not only friends but family as well.
Cherie had an ability to draw amazing and caring people into her life and she will be missed by both work acquaintances and lifelong friends alike.
Cherie is preceded in death by her grandmother Helen Hansen and father-in-law Larry Lutz. Cherie leaves her parents Russell and Dianna Oberg, sisters Tricia and Melinda (husband Steve),her ex husband Perry and their children Jackson and Landon, nephews Austin, Dalton and Cody, and nieces Ryan and Ava and so many other family and friends.
Cherie was and always will be an inspiration and light to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, and live on in our hearts forever.
