Danny James Gennette passed away leaving behind a legacy marked by perseverance and heartfelt connections. He navigated life's challenges with determination and a spirit of entrepreneurship. From a young age, Danny exhibited a quiet strength that set him apart. Though he was teased in school for his quiet nature, and slight stature, those early challenges only fueled his determination. Danny grew into a skilled "jack of all trades," mastering each endeavor he pursued. His early jobs included mowing lawns, selling newspapers, and working at Ralph's market. Danny approached every job with purpose and pride. During those early years he formed a deep bond with his mother, often through the simple, shared routine of daily chores. Danny was part of a loving family, with fourteen siblings from a combined marriage. He, the youngest, and his sister, Sylvia, were very close. As kids they fought like cats and dogs, like siblings do, but they always watched over each other and were each other’s protectors. Sadly, 12 of Danny’s siblings preceded him in death.
Danny’s journey took a significant turn when he left high school to serve his country in the Army. His post-service career included journalism at McGraw-Hill, ventures as a business owner with a catering truck, and a cleaning service. Ultimately, life brought Danny to Lake Tahoe, where he found both professional and personal joy working at Harrah's Casino. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sandy, and together they built a home grounded in love, laughter, and shared dreams. Though Danny and Sandy never had any children of their own, he welcomed his stepchildren, Tammy, Chester, and Mark as part of his family.
Always driven by a deep-rooted work ethic and a desire to create something of his own, he found he enjoyed working as a real estate agent, initially with Century 21, as a top agent for more than 25 years, and later with Award Realty. His compassion for others was evident through his acts of kindness and the care he provided to his clients, friends, wife, and all whom he loved. He was a man who met life head-on, evolving with each chapter and touching those around him with his steady presence and generous heart. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
