Dar (as she was known to friends and family) was born on July 22, 1942, to Albert and Josephine Maurer in Spokane, WA.
Dar graduated from Otis Orchards High School in 1960, she went on to major in Physical Education at Eastern Washington State College graduating in 1964. After graduating, Dar taught physical education for many years at both Pomeroy and Chehalis High Schools.
In 1968, Dar met and later married Randy Weaver. Darlene and Randy went on to have two children, Brent, and Kelly Weaver. At that time, Darlene resigned from her teaching position to focus on caring for her family and continued her education to supplement her children’s learning.
Darlene enjoyed sewing and crafting while at home with her children. She found a way to combine this interest and supplement her husband’s income by selling her crafts at local shops and markets.
Once the kids had grown, Darlene continued crafting and found more time for activities she enjoyed, like playing BINGO with her close friend Ann and traveling with her siblings.
In addition to her husband of 52 years and two children, Dar is survived and will be dearly missed by her siblings Pat Orebaugh (Larry), Sandi Shay, Rosalee Allan, and Richard Maurer (Arlene), grandchildren Alex Weaver, Georgia Weaver, Brandyn Weaver, Gabriel Wells, Merritt Wells, as well as many nephews, and nieces.
A Visitation for Darlene will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 1:00 -1:30 PM, a Graveside Service at 2:00 PM with a Reception to immediately follow at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
