A native to Kenmore/Bothell Washington, she was born a twin prematurely on July 28, 1948 weighing less than three pounds. She grew up in Kenmore Washington in a house built by her father & graduated from Bothell High School June 8th, 1966. Shortly after, she met and married her husband of 52 years, on April 4th, 1968. They raised five children of their own together as well as for many years, her twin brother’s two children Steven Richards and Christopher Richards while their father was serving in the military overseas.
Most of Jane’s career was spent at Grange Insurance in Seattle Washington, where she retired as an underwriter in August of 2009.
In her passing she joins both her parents, Neldon Jarvis Richards and Grace Hunter Richards, her twin brother James William Richards, and two grandchildren, Marilyn Grace Cordell, and Aidan Daniel McClanahan.
She leaves behind her loving husband James Norman Cordell, her five children: Gregory Cordell, David Cordell and his wife Megan, William Cordell, Kathleen McClanahan and her husband Carl, and Deborah Cordell. Twelve grandchildren: Andrew Cordell, Skylar Cordell, Carson Cordell, Devon Cordell, Zachary McClanahan, Mercer Cordell, Amanda Cordell, Cassandra McClanahan, Katherine McClanahan, William McClanahan, Nicholas McClanahan, and Abigail McClanahan. Four older siblings: Dortha Laws, Robert Richards, Carol Kayser and husband Gary, and Stanley Richards and wife Louise. She also leaves a large extended family including nieces and nephews. Janie was a lover of music and dance, was skilled at crocheting, knitting, baking, and sewing, had a talent for painting, and was a friend to anyone she met. She will be truly missed.
