

Gary Lee Carsen was born on November 3, 1944 in Everett, Washington to Mildred Irene and Hjalmar Ferdinand Carsen. He grew up in Everett and graduated in the first graduating class of Cascade High School in 1963. After serving in the Navy he met and married Kathy Bennett in 1971. The have resided in the Lake Stevens area since.
Gary was an ironworker welder with the Ironworkers Local 86 in Seattle until his retirement in 2004. He loved to fish and hunted in his younger days. He was a tinkerer, and did what his wife and daughter called “Gary” rigging repairs. His vegetable garden was very productive and he was always spreading the wealth, whether it was fresh or canned. Everyone will miss his Dilly Beans and Asparagus. When asked Kathy would say she was a “frustrated farmers wife”, meaning Gary was the frustrated farmer. At different times he had chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, goats, beef, pigs….you name it, he tried raising it. He was a kind and giving man and would do anything for anyone at any time. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents: and his siblings, Clarence, Jimmie, Jaysen, Judy and Karen.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Tracie; son-in-law, Jamie; grandchildren, Jaiden and Braelie; siblings, Marlene, Einor, Lindy, Virginia (Conrad), Richard (Donna), Christine (Bob), Susan and Steven (Yvonne); brother-in-law, Ray (Kay); too numerous to count nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be the morning of Saturday, August 18 followed by a graveside service at 2 PM at Floral Hills Cemetery.
A reception will follow at 4 PM at the Everett Elks Lodge #479, 2802 Hoyt Ave, Everett, WA 98201.
