

Dr. George Douglas Beck , 70, of Woodinville, Washington passed away after a short illness on April 9, 2023. Doug, as he liked to be called, was born to George Lauren ‘Bud’ Beck and Mary Louise Beck of Ketchikan, Alaska on May 11, 1952. Doug attended and graduated from Ketchikan High School in May, 1970. After High School he attended the University of Washington, Seattle where he received his DDS degree and BS in Biology in 1977.
While at the UW, he met his future wife, Linda D. Hagemann and they were married August 14, 1977 in Sheridan, Wyoming, her hometown. He completed a General Practice Hospital Residency through Marquette University, the Veterans Administration Hospital and the Milwaukee County Medical Center, all in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After associating with other dentists for three years, which included running in the Dental Residency at Methodist Hospital in Madison, WI., Doug and Linda then returned to the northwest and established his private practice, Wildwood Dental, in the newly formed community of Mill Creek in 1981. He practice there for 39 years, until August 2020, when he was forced to retire for unexpected health issues.
Dr. Beck served on the Board of Directors of Washington Dental Service (Delta Dental) for 16 years. He also served on the board of the Washington Dental Service Foundation (Arcora). He served as president of the Snohomish County Dental Society, board member of the Snohomish County Dental Foundation, and chairman of the Washington State Dental Association Committee on Dental Benefits.
Most of all, Dr. Beck enjoyed serving and engaging in many conversations with his patients. Doug was proud of his staff and continuously encouraged their caring, supportive and intelligent approach to oral health care possible.
He loved to work in his yard, creating a wonderland for wildlife. Another talent he had was creating and installing night lighting to illuminate its beauty. He also cherished his daily walks with his dogs, rain or shine.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, his mother Mary, brother Steven Beck, sister Katy Beck, husband Brian Chopp and daughter Laura. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Bud. His time on this earth was much too short and he will indeed missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held in mid-July.
