

Gerald (Jerry) Dee Jones, 86, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2017. During his final days, his family was able to all gather around him. Jerry was born in Pocatello, Idaho on August 14, 1930. As a young man he moved to West Seattle, Washington with his family. He spent many memorable summers on his grandmother’s ranch in Malad, Idaho. He joined the Air Force out of high school reporting to Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. After a tour of duty in Japan during the Korean War, he was to sent to Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center, Colorado. He married Yvonne Birkland in 1950 at the Army Chapel there. He then followed with a career in Auto Mechanics, later becoming the owner of Alderwood Shell in Lynnwood, WA. After the death of Yvonne from cancer in 1996, Jerry met and married Dorothy Howell. They spent time in Lynnwood and on Whidbey Island with their many friends and neighbors. Jerry's last years were spent as a resident of Brookdale Silver Lake Memory Care.
Jerry is survived by his children Normadee Jones, Colorado; Ken Jones (Colleen), Arlington; Karen Parke (Gary), Marysville; Ted Jones (Leslie), Alaska; and David Jones, Lynnwood; grandchildren Michael, Krista, Karla, Andrew, Ashley, Caitlin, Tyler and Trevor, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Aline (Josephson) Jones.
There will be a celebration of Jerry’s life at 1:00 pm on March 28, 2017 at Purdy and Walters at Floral Hills. After the service, refreshments will be served in the community room. Memorial Donations in Jerry’s name can be made to Brookdale Memory Center or the Alzheimer’s Association.
