It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear matriarch Nghia Thi Huynh (affectionately referred to as Bà Nội by her grandchildren), at the age of 86. All of Bà Nội’s family and friends have been blessed to know her generosity, caring hospitality, and sense of humor. Bà Nội will be missed by all those that call her a sibling, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Bà Nội was born in the city of Rạch Giá, located in the Kiên Giang province of Vietnam. She was a woman of many talents. She was a baker, selling her famous cream puffs to locals. She was a school teacher, having taught both elementary and middle school age children while working her way up to the role of school Principal. She mastered sewing, knitting, and crocheting which resulted in many custom-made clothing pieces for her family and friends. She also ensured her family was well-fed with her delicious cooking.
Bà Nội led by example with regards to always putting her loved ones first, exhibiting generosity and kindness, and all meanwhile still making jokes and living life to the fullest. She has left an everlasting impression for those she is survived by.
Bà Nội was married to her late husband, An Thuong Nguyen (known as Ông Nội by their grandchildren). While the family is glad she is now reunited with Ông Nội, she will be sorely missed by all. She is survived by her two sons: Duke Nguyen and Phu Nguyen; her two daughters-in-law: Phuong Tran and Tuyet Nguyen; her two godchildren: Hieu Nguyen and Jen Holsinger; her four grandchildren: Stephanie Sobrepera, Jessica Nguyen, Larry Nguyen, and Jerry Nguyen; her two god-grandchildren: Chuong Ly and Duy Ly; her three great grandchildren: Taylor Nguyen, Kennedy Nguyen, and Catarina Sobrepera; and many more extended relatives and friends.
Thank you to everyone who has expressed their support, sympathy, and condolences for our family. It is greatly appreciated.
