Irene grew up in Connecticut alongside her brother, Bob Zinky. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gene Sprague, at a dance—an encounter she would always describe as love at first sight.
Irene was a woman known for her warmth, kindness, and enduring sense of humor, which she carried with her until the very end. She was a deeply loving mother who cherished her children and valued the friendships she maintained throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Marlene Sprague, Darlene Rosenquist, (Calvin Rosenquist)and Alan Sprague. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irene also leaves behind many dear friends, including her lifelong childhood friend Nancy.
Irene had a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Piddles, who brought her much comfort and companionship.
Irene will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Tahoma National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at her church in Marysville at a later date.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
