Joseph W. Vander Veer passed away December 30, 2011 from a year long battle with lung cancer. Joe was born in Orlando, Florida in 1944. He grew up in Seattle where he graduated from Garfield High School. Joe joined the U.S. Army and served in Korea, Germany and Vietnam. Returning to Seattle, he met and married Michele Violante and they spent the next 44 years together. Joe and Michele lived in Edmonds, WA for over 40 years where they raised their sons, Jim and Matt. Joe was a truck driver for Western Cartage for 34 years and he worked with his sons part-time at Panalpina for 7 years after he retired.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Michele; sons, Jim (Rasa) and Matt (Lynnette); granddaughters, Zoe, Sophia and Mia (his babies); sisters, JoAnn and Alice; brothers, Robert and George; and many other loved family members.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, 1pm at Westgate Chapel 22901 Edmonds Way Edmonds, WA 98020.
