Laurie Kay Redding

Laurie was born in San Bernardino, CA on March 20, 1968, to Mark and Beverly Martinez. In 1968, Laurie was adopted by John and Helen Johnson and her four older brothers Tony, Dave, Chris and Dean and received baby sister Elaina shortly thereafter. All five kids were close to Laurie all their lives. The family began their lives in Ontario, CA and moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 1972 where Laurie was raised.

In fall of 1985, Laurie met the love of her life Tyler David Redding. On February 9, 1986, Laurie gave birth to her first born child Erica; shortly after on June 18, 1987, she gave birth to her second born child Corey. On June 27, 1989, Laurie was blessed again with her third born child Nathan. Laurie always wanted one more addition to round out the family, and on October 9, 1993, she gave birth to her fourth child Paige. Laurie and Tyler were married on July 28, 1990 and lived a loving, honest genuine marriage of nearly 25 years.

In 1994, Laurie and Tyler rallied up the kids and moved from Flagstaff, AZ to Seattle, WA, along with her sister Elaina and family, and her mother Helen.

Laurie began working at UW in 1999 as a PSS supervisor in the Digestive Disease Center. There she met many friends and had lots of laughs with each and every one of them.

To Laurie, family always came first. Laurie was Tyler and the kids’ biggest cheerleader. She loved the sunshine - always taking trips to Lake Chelan in Eastern WA, riding rollercoasters and lounging on lazy rivers, traveling to Southern California to see Mickey at Disneyland, visiting family and friends in Arizona and most recently to Cancun, Mexico for her eldest daughter Erica’s marriage to her son-in-law Ben Hyatt, whom she was beyond proud of. Laurie also enjoyed skiing, boating, fishing, reading, walking on the beach in Mukilteo, playing with the family dogs and napping. Her most favorite thing of all was spending precious time with her loving husband, four kids and son-in-law. Laurie also loved long talks on the phone with loved ones all around the country.

Laurie is survived by her loving husband Tyler and her family; her two daughters: Erica and husband Ben Hyatt, Paige (“Bubby”), as well as two sons: Corey and Nathan. Her sister Elaina and husband Troy Moore, and their children Trevor and Allie. Her four brothers and their spouses: Tony and Sylvia, Dave and Charsty, Chris and Janice, and Dean and Gina. Her Father Johnny Johnson and spouse Nancy. Laurie is also survived by Mark and Beverly Martinez and their children: Mark Jr. Rod and Dave.

We all loved Laurie in so many ways. She touched each of our lives in ways only each of us know in our own hearts. She held a special place in her heart for the many she loved and the many who loved her back. Our lives will be forever changed, but her legacy lives on through each of us. She will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
