It is with profound sadness and immense love that we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Marie Frandanisa, who was surrounded by loved ones in her home on Finn Hill in Kirkland, Washington on July 4th, 2025. A cherished resident of Kirkland since 1969, Rose's warm spirit and boundless kindness touched countless lives.
Born Rose Marie Del Genio on December 2nd, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Anne and Frank Del Genio, Rose was raised in Girard, Ohio. On June 2nd, 1962, she married the love of her life, Angelo Frandanisa. They recently celebrated an incredible 63 years of cherished marriage, a testament to their enduring love and partnership that inspired everyone fortunate enough to know them.
Affectionately known to many as Rose, Rosie, Ms. Rosie, or Rosie Posey, her life was defined by unwavering dedication and a generous heart. For over 50 years, Rose faithfully served in various roles at her church, St. John Mary Vianney. She also worked part-time at the Puget Sound Blood Center, calling people to donate, and retired from there in 2016 after over 20 years of service.
However, it was her full-time career as a dedicated Instructional Aid at Carl Sandburg Elementary in the Lake Washington School District where Rosie was most well-known. She retired in June 2019 after a remarkable 45 years tenure. Every student, teacher, and parent who walked through those doors knew and loved Rosie, feeling her genuine passion for helping others. Her contagious laugh was a joy to all, and her kind heart left an indelible mark on generations.
Rosie was the devoted matriarch of her family. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Angelo, and their three children: Renee, James (Carrie), and Robert (Kelley). She was a cherished grandmother to AJ (Nichole), Lindsey (Jay), Caleb, Kyle, Tyler (Sydney), Marissa, Dominic, and Roman. Rosie was also a loving great-grandmother to Brielle, Jace, Wesson, Sebastian, and Vincent, who will undoubtedly miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anne and Frank Del Genio, and her sister, Patricia (Del Genio) Deak.
Rose Marie was admired for her unwavering devotion to her family, her deep faith, and her steadfast friendships. She will be sorrowfully missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Funeral Mass will be held in her honor at St. John Mary Vianney Catholic Church in Kirkland on Thursday, August 14th, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, Rose would encourage you to donate blood, platelets, and more through Bloodworks Northwest, or donate financially in her name to the American Cancer Society for Cancer Research at donate.cancer.org.
