Shirley Mae Dietrich Merrill, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and dear friend, passed away in her home January 1, 2011 after a 2-year battle with cancer. She was 70 years old. Shirley was born in Lyons, Colorado December 12, 1940 to her late parents, Henry and Lorraine (Taylor) Dietrich.
Shirley retired from the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner’s Office. She is survived by three of her children, Pam Merrill, Kathy Mundt (Chuck Worthington) and Robert Merrill; sister, Eileen Christensen (Carl); and grandson Josh Eby. Her daughter, Phyllis Merrill, tragically preceded her in death.
A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2702 Broadway East, Seattle, WA 98102. A graveside service will be held at 2pm that afternoon at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood. For those who would like to have a private moment with Shirley prior to burial visitation is available between 12-2pm at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills.
