Steven Howard Bold, of Bellevue, Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on May 25, 1971, Steve lived a life fully dedicated to his family and friends, a passion for his work, and a love of community that joyfully brought people together.
In heaven, Steve joins his loving parents, Marilyn and Charlie Bold. He is survived by his devoted wife, Julie Bold, his deeply loved sons, Garrett Bold (19) and Dane Bold (17), his big sister, his rock and Bold Family stronghold, Kathy (Bold) Thomas and her husband Mike, his older brother, Jim and his wife, Shawna, his brother and sisters-in-law, Mike and Pam Astrof and Jamie Hannam, and his mother-in-law, Connie Hannam. Steve loved and adored his nieces and nephews; Greg Carlson and his wife, Kelsey, Landen Carlson, Brianna Thomas, Lexi Bold, Sophia Bold, Chanelle (Astrof) Norris, Blayne Astrof, Juniper Hannam-Capel, and the latest family additions, Cooper, Ryder, and Vayda.
Steve spent much of his childhood in Woodinville, Washington, and graduated from Woodinville High School in 1989. He went on to attend Central Washington University, where he earned a degree in Construction Management. Following graduation, Steve joined the family business, Universal Land Construction, where he played a key role in its operations until his retirement in 2019.
Family and close friends were Steve’s most valued and cherished assets, and he poured love into his two sons, Garrett and Dane. He was always excited to share stories of their accomplishments in school, sports, and careers. When the boys picked up a new hobby or interest, that became Steve’s new interest as well. He took immense pride in supporting Garrett's passion for off-roading and Dane’s pursuits in football and track. Steve, Garrett, and Dane loved a good Lego set and built countless of them over the years. Steve also organized memorable family adventures, including a recent off-roading trip to the Moab desert that created lasting bonds and treasured memories. He wanted to share his love of the outdoors and our country with his boys and taught them how to target shoot, fish, and boat. He also loved sharing his passion for BBQ with family, friends and the kids’ teammates hosting many team dinners and parties.
Steve’s love of cooking was a blessing to family and friends, and he loved presenting his finely perfected smoked meat of the day, which often came in large enough portions for a small football team. He also loved cooking chili and had won several trophies at the annual chili cook-off held at our family cabin in Eastern Washington. But his love of cooking was really more a love of sharing with those he cared about. It brought him so much joy to watch his loved ones enjoying his delicious creations.
Steve also had a passion for classic cars which he loved sharing with his boys. He cherished both his 1969 convertible Camaro and his latest “toy”, his fully restored 1971 Chevy Blazer. All these passions and hobbies really revolve around Steve’s deep sense of patriotism and nostalgia, with a profound love for his country that he outwardly expressed to anyone open to listening. He would often share sarcastic memes with his family as a way of sharing his views while expressing his incredible sense of humor.
Steve will be remembered for his unwavering love, his infectious smile, his deep kindness, his enormous generosity, his wicked sense of humor, and his humbleness in always putting others before him. Steve will be deeply missed by all that loved him. We know we will see him again someday and that heaven gained another angel, one whose presence is undoubtedly larger than life and bringing laughter and smiles to all the other angels.
Steve’s Celebration of Life will take place at Crossroads at Thomas Family Farms in Snohomish on Sunday, February 22, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a cherished story, fond memory, photo, or inside joke that you shared with Steve
