Augustus Bailey Small, Jr., 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. A graveside service will be held on January 16th, 2021 at 3:00 PM in Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Paul Dziadul officiating and will be Facebook Live Streamed on the funeral home page. Bailey was born in Baton Rouge, LA to the late Augustus “B” and Martha Small and was preceded in death by his sister Ann Lasch. He was a loyal and loving son, husband and father, and grandfather. Bailey proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, also serving in the Philippines and Japan. He took pride in relationships made as a mortgage banker for 34 years with Fickling & Walker, SunTrust and Fairfield Financial. He was an avid outdoorsmen spending much of his time fishing, hunting and golfing. One of his favorite past-times of late was watching Jeopardy with his two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lydia K. Small; daughters, Stacie (Scott) Perkins, and Shannon (Jon) Spiegel; grandchildren, Tyler and Ryann Perkins; sister, Betty (Hunter) Grant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
