Avarilla "Ava" Asbell Dickerson

Avarilla “Ava” Marguriette Asbell Dickerson, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 28, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at New Richland Baptist Church Cemetery in Twiggs, County with the Rev. Jerry Garner officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 7495 Knoxville Road, Lizella GA 31052.

Ava was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Oscar Lucree and Marguriette Califf Asbell. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Asbell, sister, Sara Will Staines, and great nephew, James Robert Brinegar. Ava was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and taught the Madden Sunday School Class. She retired from AT&T as a switchboard operator after many years of service. Ava enjoyed shopping, family vacations, cooking and dressing to the nine. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her husband of forty-seven years, Larry Dickerson, son, Califf (Hannah) Dickerson, daughter, Avamaria (Jason) Hunnicutt, grandchildren, Addison Ava Dickerson, Peyton Christopher Hunnicutt, Royce James Davis, niece, Angela Maria Brinegar, nephews, Homer Puckett and Tim Land, great niece, Sarah Christina Warren and her loving companions, Cree, Sable, Sophia, Callahan and Willow.
