Betty Durdin Benge, 79, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Dziadul officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday night from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Betty was born in Coldwater, Mississippi to the late Clay and Maggie May Saunders Durdin and was preceded in death by her former husband, Charles Richard Benge, Sr., and several siblings. She was a Supply Chief with FEMA and of the Baptist faith. Betty enjoyed dancing, country music, collecting music boxes, cooking and working.
Survivors include her children, Charles Richard “Ricky” Benge, Jr., Lewis “Ray” (Teresa Murray) Benge and Melissa (Randy Bruner) Harris; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one sister; two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
