

Billy Paul Stamatis, 76, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2014. A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gray Church of Christ. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Snow officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gray Church of Christ, 260 James St., Gray, GA 31032.
Billy was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Louis B. and Doris Hamilton Stamatis. He was a 1957 Jones County Allstate Football Player where he played linebacker and was voted Mr. Band. He was a member of the Gray Church of Christ and was the owner of several businesses. He retired from the Waffle House with twenty two years of service as a regional maintenance service provider. Billy was a Micro Midget racecar driver and a member of AMA (American Motorcycle Association), he raced Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a lifelong NASCAR fan. He also was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and flying remote controlled airplanes. He was a member of Dixie Aeromasters of Gray, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly C. Stamatis, children, Damon (Nickie) Stamatis, Danny (Cindy) Stamatis, Paula S. (Sammy) Peacock, step children, Heidi Meldrim, Tracy (Ricky) Tapia, Randy Thompson, step-father, A.B. Pike, sister, Dorothea Haralson, brother, Randy Pike, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
