

Charles E. Smallwood, 73, passed away after an extended illness. A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Lance Merritt officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to West Highland-Safe Harbor Baptist Church, 7065 Mosley Dixon Road, Macon GA 31220.
Charles was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Charles A. and Eleanor S. Smallwood. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda S. Harper. Charles was a graduate of Lanier High School and was retired after twenty five years of service as a Sergeant with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department and was a member of the Retiree’s Club. Charles worked for fifteen years at Sears in the painting department. He was a member of West Highland-Safe Harbor Baptist Church and served as a Usher. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his wife of thirty six years, Pamela D. Smallwood of Macon, daughter, Deidra (Dale) Childers of Macon, Jason (Lindsey) Hall of Gray, eight grandchildren, Caitlin (Keith) Collins, Robin Swann-Childers, Austin Childers, Kristin Childers, Cooper Green, Maci Hall, Hadley Green, Julianna Hall, two great grandchildren, Dustin and Michael Collins, brothers; Larry (Kathy) Smallwood of Macon, Mike (Sharon) Smallwood of Macon and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and great nieces and nephews.
