D. Jean Middlebrooks, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at a local hospital. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday at Lizella United Methodist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Loran D. Smith will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lizella United Methodist Church, 2920 South Lizella Road, Lizella 31052.
Mrs. Middlebrooks, wife of the late George A. Middlebrooks, was born in Mulgrave, Nova Scotia, Canada the daughter of the late Frederick Sears Hoare and Daphne Bent Hoare. She worked many years as manager of Craft Castle. Mrs. Middlebrooks was a member of Lizella United Methodist Church where she was active in the life of her church as a member of Senior Friends, involved with Mission Activities and sharing meals for shut-ins. She loved her church and her church family and was happiest while involved in their activities.
Survivors include the family she cherished, her sons, Charles G. (Joy) Middlebrooks of Macon and Bruce (Debbie) Middlebrooks of Byron; her brother,
Gerald L. Hoare of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada; several nieces and nephews.
