

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth Knight Doolittle, died Thursday morning in her home in Lizella. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 PM in Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. John Beck will officiate. The family will meet friends from 12:15 PM until service time in the fellowship hall of the church. The family suggests that those wishing to make donations in lieu of flowers contribute to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 4600 Mercer University Drive, Macon, Georgia 31204, or to the Heart of Georgia Humane Society, 1 Macon Dr., Macon, Georgia 31201.
Mrs. Doolittle was born in Macon and lived here all her life. She was the daughter of the late Prentice Leo Knight, Sr., and the late Eunice Hartness Knight. Mrs. Doolittle, widow of Ralph Stevens Doolittle, Sr, graduated from A. L. Miller High School. During the 1950s and 1960s, Mrs. Doolittle was often helping her mother, Eunice Clarke, and other family members in her mother’s drug store, Cherokee Pharmacy. She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where her Knight ancestors were founding members. .
Mrs. Doolittle is survived by her son, Guerry Doolittle of Jacksonville, Florida, her daughter, Faye (David) Luckie of Griffin, daughter-in- law Sandra Doolittle Bowen of Gray, 3 grandchildren, Ralph Doolittle, Lane Doolittle, and Suzanne Christman Wilson, 9 great grandchildren, Mallory Doolittle, Shaw Doolittle, Graham Doolittle, Catherine Doolittle, Rebekah Doolittle, Timothy Doolittle, Elizabeth Wilson, James Wilson and Dylan Bonner. She was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Stevens Doolittle, Jr., in 2002.
