Elizabeth “Irene” Mead, 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Josh Gale officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3040 Riverside Drive, Macon GA 31210.
Irene was born in Eastman, Georgia to the late James Carroll Sheffield and Elma Payne Sheffield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Mead and two sons, Doyle Mead and Greg Mead. She was a homemaker and Methodist faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Charles) Foster of Warner Robins, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
