Ellen S. Massey, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 18, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. Jon Beck officiating. The family will greet friends on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Suite A, Macon GA 31201 or Tabernacle Baptist Church, 6611 Zebulon Road, Macon GA 31220.
Mrs. Massey was born December 26, 1931 in Vienna, Georgia to the late Charles B. and Donnie R. Swearingen. She was preceded in death by husband of 54 years, Edwin Massey; 3 siblings, Frankye Del Guidice of Hartford, CT, Madeline Csercsevits of Roebling, NJ, and Virginia Ward of Statesboro, GA, formerly of Macon.
She graduated A. L. Miller High School Class of 1949 and retired from State Farm Insurance Company as a Claims Service Assistant after 25 years of service.
Mrs. Massey was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years where she served in the kitchen for 18 years as well as served with the Homebound Ministry. Active member of Joyful Believers Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her 3 sons and 1 daughter: Tommy Massey (Jackie) of Holly Hill, FL; Victor Massey (Pam) of Macon, GA; Donna Griffin (Ronnie) of Macon, GA; David Massey (Robin) of Yulee, FL; Daughter-in-law, Cherrie Brown (Glenn) of Macon, GA; and her dear friend, Laverne Robertson.
Ellen, known as ‘Meme’ by her grandchildren is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
