Frank Welch (Buddy) Elmore Jr. was born in Gainesville, Georgia, on September 17, 1932. He grew up in Americus, Georgia, and graduated from Americus High School. His adult years were spent in Jeffersonville and Macon, Georgia. Mr. Elmore served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He received a BA degree in Building Construction from Auburn University in 1956. Mr. Elmore worked over 55 years in Macon and middle Georgia building many projects. He was a contractor who enjoyed his work. Through the years he made many lasting friendships with other builders and sub-contractors.
Mr. Elmore was a faithful and active member of First Evangelical Church for over 30 years. He served as a steward and was the building contractor for his church which was completed in 2008.
Mr. Elmore loved the Lord his savior, his wife and companion of 58 years, and his family. He always had a smile and the assurance "he was going to make it", especially during his many years of struggle with cancer.
We will celebrate his home going at First Evangelical Church on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM. The Rev. Tim Long and Rev. Richard Jelley will officiate. Burial will follow at Macon Memorial Cemetery. The family requests Memorials be made to First Evangelical Church or Pine Pointe Hospice and Palliative Care. We express deep appreciation to them for the loving care during Frank's illness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Welch Elmore Sr., his mother and step father, Helen and Dr. Henry Swearingen of Americus, Georgia, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Joyner.
