Gene Franklin Rooks

Gene Franklin Rooks, 96, of Macon, Georgia passed away Friday, October 18, 2024. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Snows at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Jon Beck will officiate. The family will have time of visitation on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. till service time in the funeral home.

Born in Macon, he was the son of the late Julian Rooks and Sara Brown Rooks. He was the husband of the late Myrtle Griffin Rooks.

Mr. Rooks was retired civil service from Robins Air Force Base with 35 plus years of service. He was an US Air Force veteran and was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and he and his wife taught the second grade Sunday school class for many years. He also was the church bus driver for many years for many of the church outings.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice Rooks Farmer (Gary), Grandchildren, Kelli Farmer Bowden(Ray), and Brad Farmer(Jennifer); great grandchildren, Stephen Bowden, and Amy Bowden. Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Central Georgia Cancer Care, Brightmoor Hospice, ACE Medical Transport, Veterans Administration and Alexander IV Senior Living for the excellent care Mr. Rooks received while in their care.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 6611 Zebulon Road, Macon, Georgia 31220.
