Juliette, GA- George Andrew Stancil, 86, passed away on October 13, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Joshua Herndon and Jim McGahee officiating. The family will greet friends from 7:00PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the funeral home.
Mr. Stancil was the widower of Patricia A. Stancil and was born in Clayton, Georgia to the late Rosa Ona Stancil and Jabel William Stancil. He was a retired supervisor from Southern Natural Gas Company and served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Mr. Stancil was a member of Shurlington Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter: Maria D. Bell. Mr. Stancil enjoyed fixing and tinkering with things around the house.
Mr. Stancil is survived by his two daughters: Wanda (Clifton) Bell and Sylvia (Joseph) Herndon; four grandchildren: Joseph W. Herndon of Bolinbroke, GA, Phillip A. (Shasta) Herndon of Forsyth, GA, Joshua L. Herndon of Kingstree, SC and Chip (April) Bell of Bonaire, GA ; one great-granddaughter, Audree E. Herndon; and his canine companion: Ginger.
