

Idalou Roby Boutwell, 100, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Len Strozier officiating. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, Tattnall Square Baptist Church, New Heights Baptist Church, or Tallulah Falls School for Children.
Idalou established ABC Kindergarten, and along with 3 other teachers, taught about 65 children each year for 20 years. Her other accomplishments were that she helped establish the Day Care at Cherokee Heights Baptist Church, taught school at Pearl Stephens and Joseph B. Riley, was a past president of Georgia Preschool Association, Bibb County Preschool Association, Pilot Club of Macon and North Macon Park Keenagers Club. She also was an active member of Macon Woman’s Club and did volunteer work with the Cherry Blossom Festival for many years. At her passing, she was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church.
Idalou shared her life with her late husband, Cleveland Boutwell, Sr. Her survivors are her children Cleveland Boutwell, Jr. (Kathy) of Ball Ground, GA, Dennis Boutwell (Sandra) of Newnan, GA, and Beverly Boutwell House of Fayetteville, AR. Other survivors are sister Sue Roby Fouts, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother James Roby and sisters Elva Batchelor and Ruby Durden.
