Irene Hutcheson Garrard, 98, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, September 16, 2021. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Macon Memorial Park with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating, In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital., http://www.stjude.org.
Irene was born in Stillmore, Georgia on March 23, 1923, to Lingo and Pearl Hutcheson. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she served in Sunday School, Bible School and was a WMU leader. She became a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in 1996 then later became a member of Ingleside Baptist Church in 2017. She was a member of the Fedelis Sunday School Class at Ingleside until her death.
Irene was known as a wonderful cook and homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband of 69 years, Bill Garrard; her daughter, Iris Ann Garrard Chambliss; her brother, Authur Royce Hutcheson; and sister, Grace Hutcheson Howell.
Survivors include her daughter, Melanie Garrard Burnette; son-in-law, Charlie Chambliss; grandchildren; Carey Wimberly (Charles), Marc Boyd (Tonia), Kelly Chambliss, and Brandi Boyd; great-grandchildren; Aaron Wimberly, Savannah Abston (Johnathan), Hutcheson Hunnicutt (Amanda), Spencer Boyd (Mallory), Dixie Boyd, and Megan Porter; great-great-grandchildren; Nicholas and Summer Underwood, Olivia Wimberly, Sawyer, Lynlee and Kahlo Hunnicutt and Elsie Porter. And many other cousins nieces and nephews.
