Iris Murphy Crews, 76, of Macon, GA, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Duggan officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3969 Mercer University Dr., Macon GA 31204. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church, 5925 Price Dr., Macon GA 31220. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Roseland Park Cemetery in Hattiesburg, MS with the Rev. Larry Keeton officiating.
Iris was born in Somerville, TN to the late James Elmo Murphy and Lorene Mashburn Murphy. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School in Sommerville, TN and achieved a degree from Business College in Memphis, TN. She worked as an airline stewardess and a medical secretary for Memphis Mental Health and Psychiatric Hospital. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dr. Roney V. Crews of Macon, children; Vincent Gregory (Amy) Crews, Lancelot Carlton Crews, Rona Lane (Jim Ed) Owen, Piper Laurie Ware of Wiggins, MS and five grandchildren.
