

“Jack” Frances DeMave, passed away peacefully at Pine Pointe Hospice on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the age of 91. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Asbell and Rev. Don Kea officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to donor’s favorite charity. Jack loved St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or any animal shelter or Pine Pointe Hospice.
Jack was born on December 7, 1933, in New Jersey City, NJ and was the son of the late John Frances DeMave, Sr. and Helen McKay DeMave. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Camille Smith DeMave in July 2013 and his sister, Jachelene DeMave. He was a member of Vineville Methodist Church and sang in the choir and he sang in the Carlyle Choristers.
Jack DeMave’s acting career swept him across four mediums – stage, television, movies and commercials. He was on Broadway with Charlton Heston in “Mr. Roberts.” He was cast as Ranger Bob Ericson on the TV series “Lassie,” joking that he departed the show after three years because “the dog got all the good lines.” DeMave was a familiar face in the recurring role of Armond Lynton on the “Mary Tyler Moore Show.” He was a guest star of “The Fugitive,” “Days of Our Lives,” “General Hospital,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Ellery Queen” and Marcus Welby M.D.” He worked with such stars as Don Rickles, Hedy Lamarr, Bob Newhart, Doris Day, Ann Blyth, Nanette Fabray, Rock Hudson, Mel Gibson and Bette Davis.
He is survived by his nephew by marriage, “Tom” Tommy McDonald (Dale) of Macon, special friend and companion Jo Banks, and fur baby “Tyler”, 1 great nephew, 2 great nieces, 2 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew.
Also, a special “Thank You” to Bob and Vickie Lovett for taking such good care of Jack’s fur baby “Tyler” and agreeing to keep after his death. We would like to say a special “Thank You” to Jack’s many friends in Macon at Carlyle Place and caretakers at the Harrington House and Pine Pointe Hospice and phone calls, cards, visits where greatly appreciated.
