

Jack E. Harrison, 80, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Blankenship and Rev. Josh Gale officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Jack was born in Crawford, County to the late Richard and Mattie Harrison. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Cook Harrison, John Harrison and sister, Louise Woolf.
Upon graduation from Crawford County High School in 1955, he and three of his friends joined the Navy to see the World. In 1992 after 34 years of employment, he retired from Robins Air Force Base as Chief of the Resources Management Branch, Directorate of Distribution. During his career Jack hired hundreds of employees for their first job on base. He was a member and Past President of the Exchange Club Macon West. He was a member of Lizella Methodist Church, New Beginnings Sunday School, and the Men’s Club. Jack enjoyed sports on TV and was an avid crappie fisherman and bird hunter. He especially enjoyed quail hunting with his bird dogs. He was a dedicated NASCAR race fan since the early 1960’s. Jack had a mischievous sense of humor and enjoyed pulling pranks and jokes on his friends.
He is survived by his longtime companion and wife of 53 years, Annette Harrison of Macon, niece, Brenda (Gary) Matheny of Cleveland, TN, niece, Connie (Roger) Alverson of Thomaston, GA and Cathy (Andy) Pollard of Thomaston, nephew, Ronnie (Mary) Harrison of Waycross, great nieces, Tiffany (Jason) Blankenship, Harleigh Alverson and Krysten Alverson and great nephews, Brian (Pauline) Matheny, USAF and Wyatt Pollard and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his adopted grandson and buddy, Seth Ivey of Lizella. Jack especially enjoyed the time he spent with Seth watching him grow up from a three month old baby to become a good fisherman, dirt bike rider, and football player.
