

James L. Lambert, 97, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Morningside Assisted Living. A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Joe McDaniel officiating. The family will meet friends on Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 1:30 to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to Tattnall Square Baptist Church, 4925 Zebulon Road, Macon GA 31210 or the Backpack Ministry of Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon GA 31210.
He was born January 24, 1917 in Luthersville, GA and had lived in Macon for the last seventy years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lubie L. and Callie Sue Lambert and his loving wife of 74 years, Allene Pullen Lambert, preceded in death on October 2013 and five siblings.
He served in the United States Army in World War II. Mr. Lambert was retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1972. After his retirement he started his own business of installing window treatments for numerous interior decorators in the Middle Georgia area. He continued that business until he was 88 years old. Mr. Lambert was one of the founding coaches of South Macon Little League. He was the longtime coach of the Cardinals. He was more than a coach to many young men that came through the program and was the ultimate model of what a Christian man should be. He was the oldest member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He was a former member of Mikado Baptist Church and Mabel White Baptist Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was a servant to many.
He is survived by his two sons; Jimmy (Brenda) Lambert of Macon, Ronnie (Peggy) Lambert of Vidalia, GA, three grandchildren; Todd Lambert of Vidalia, GA, Dr. Meredith (Kevin) Voyles of Brentwood, TN and Reid (Ruth) Lambert of Dallas, GA, five great grandchildren; Callie Lambert, Cameron Voyles and Mallory Voyles, Evan Lambert and Macy Lambert and several nieces and nephews.
