Harold Phillips, 88, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in Macon Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. Richard Lanning officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Fish and Loaves, Community Foundation, FLCFP.org.
Harold was born in Sylvester, Georgia to the late Ellis Wesley and Mary Alda Chapman Phillips. He served his country in the United States Navy. Harold was a member of Ingleside United Methodist Church for 63 years and loved his church family.
At age 23 he helped start Security Life Insurance Company and was Vice President of the company for 25 years. After retiring from the insurance business he started his second company Phillips Properties which he owned and managed till he was in his late 80’s.
Harold was a man of great integrity, a leader, a philanthropist, and a friend to many. But more than anything Harold was a family man who was married to his late wife Florine for 63 years. He loved spending time with his family. Whether celebrating a holiday occasion, a birthday, going on a family fishing trip, or just sitting and talking, nothing meant more to Harold than family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Connie (Lynn) Hayes, Jay (Meagan) Phillips, and Julie Phillips; grandchildren, Philip Hayes, Michelle Hayes, Kylie Phillips, and Pierce Phillips, and several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Diana Messer, a friend for 25+ years, for her wonderful care of our loved one.
