

Joann Ussery Parker, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 29, 2013. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Gilead Baptist Church. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Craig Holmes officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gilead Baptist Church, Mission Funds, 4800 Ivey Drive, Macon GA 31210.
Mrs. Parker was born in Dexter, Georgia to the late Charles “Pete” E. and Lillian Knight Ussery. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William H. Parker, Jr. and H. Eugene Fields, her brother, Jimmy Ussery, stepmother, Eva Harrington Ussery and stepbrother, Ray Nesmith. Her grandparents were the late, Willie Eli Knight and Victoria Mullis Knight of Rentz, and the late Charles Franklin Ussery and Estella McCrackin Ussery of Dexter.
She has lived most of her life in Macon and was a graduate of A.L. Miller High School and still enjoyed meeting with her high school friends for lunch and fellowship. Mrs. Parker was a charter member of Gilead Baptist Church, Cornerstone Sunday School Class and Ladies Fellowship. She was a member and past president of Lois Rasar Homemakers Club, an active member of Rutland Chapter of AARP and was retired from State Farm Insurance Company.
She is survived by her three sons and their families; Chuck (Carolyn) Fields of Greenville, SC, Gary (April) Fields of Dublin, Reggie (Valerie) Fields of Hoschton, grandchildren; Ginger (Jon) Griffeth, Cinnamon (Daniel) Kennison, Rebekah Fields, Cameron Fields, Carson Fields, Reagan Fields, one great granddaughter, Cassia Kennison, sister-in-law, Junedia Lassister of Cochran and stepdaughter, Kathy (Larry) Miller of Bonaire.
