Joel Linton Archer Sr.

Joel Linton Archer, Sr., 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 03, 2015. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00 at Lizella United Methodist Church with Rev. Loran Smith officiating. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lizella United Methodist Church, 2920 South Lizella Rd., Lizella, GA 31052.

Mr. Archer was born on August 11, 1925 in Sparta, Georgia to the late J.C. and Emma Lizzie Archer and was preceded in death by his son, Joel L. Archer, Jr.; sister, Electa Harris; and brother, Hartwell Archer. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the South Pacific Theater. Mr. Archer worked at the Naval Ordinance Plant in Macon, and retired from the Fire Department at Robins Air Force Base. He was a faithful member of Southside United Methodist Church, where he was Scout Master for Troop 38. Currently serving at Lizella United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class, the XYZ Club, and past president of the Methodist Men’s Club.

Mr. Archer is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ermine Tufts Archer, of Musella; daughters, Susan Archer of Musella, Shirley (Bob) Stouffer of Cape Coral, FL, and Pamela (Bill) Ellis of Lizella; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles R. Archer.
