John "Johnny" Allen McCallum, age 90, of Macon, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m.
John was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Carlton and Alice McCallum and was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy McCallum. He joined the United States Marine Corp when he was 17 years old, and then worked at Robins Air Force Base for 42 years before retirement. He spent approximately 40 years in service to his Country in the Army Reserves, 202nd Air National Guard, and Air Reserves. John then later worked over 20 years for Lab Corp as a driver until his early 80's. He always worked hard to provide for his family who he loved dearly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy McCallum; daughter, Miriam Cheves (Jeff); son, Travis McCallum (Rhonda); five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one on the way; sister, Pearlie Killgo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
