

John Richard Sanders, 78, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10:00 am at Snow’s at Macon Memorial Park funeral home with Pastor Fred Fries officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to an Alzheimer’s association of your choice or Bible Baptist Temple, 2601 Watson Blvd, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
John was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Dorothy Sanders. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years, during both the Vietnam and Gulf war. John was a member of Sumter Baptist Temple while living in South Carolina, and once he returned to Houston County, he was a member of Bible Baptist Temple. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, which included his many golden retriever companions over the years, and the love of his life, Jane Sanders who he shared 58 happily married years with. John was also known as a prankster and enjoyed making those around him smile and laugh. John was always working on a project and enjoyed building things and woodwork.
John is preceded in death by his siblings, John Brock and Jenny Faye Winslette; and brother-in-law, Robert S. Turner.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Jane Sanders; nieces and nephews, Jody Winslette (Anna), Teresa Watson (Lance), Tonya Rozier (Alex), Christa Buford (Matthew); great-nieces and nephews, Corey Burks, Christopher Burks, Abigail Rozier, Loralai Rozier, and Nora Buford; cousin, Johnny Hopper (Gail); sister-in-law, Debbie Turner.
