Kenneth Allen "Sonny" Mote, Sr., 91, passed away on Sunday July 11, 2021. His life will be celebrated at a graveside service on Thursday, July 15, at 11 o'clock, in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, led by Rev. Robby Kerr. Family will receive friends at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock.
Mr. Mote was born in Bibb County, Georgia to the late Roy Lee Moate and Margaret Browning (Jones) and attended Dudley Hughes Vocational School. Sonny married the love of his life on February 27, 1948, and together, they lived, laughed and loved. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, on Fulton Mill Rd., and had attended Mikado Baptist Church. Sonny worked for Armstrong Ceiling Tile Plant from 1956 until 1992, totaling 36 years of service and was a longtime member of the United Gypsum and Lime Union, with Armstrong. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 years, Goldie Lee White Mote, daughter, Susan Mote Arnold Reich, and a grandson Eric Brandon Arnold.
Sonny was a resident of Morningside Assisted Living facility for the past few years, where he was affectionately known as "Poppa" by his caregivers, who had become his second family. Mr. Mote's family wants to extend a special word of thanks to those who took part in making Poppa feel at home and loved. They knew that he would be well seen after when they had to be away.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Kenneth Allen Mote, Jr. and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Amanda Mote Jones and husband Derrick, Kenneth "Kam" Allen Mote, III and wife Lindsey, Erin Arnold Garrett Fountain, Gregory Keith Arnold; granddaughter in law, Wendy Arnold; great grandchildren, Drake Wayne Jones, Dianna K. Jones, Delayna K. Jones, Loie Grace Mote, Kenneth Allen "Beau" Mote, IV, Ada Greer Mote, Payton Garrett Morris, Brianna Lynn Garrett, Mia Arnold, Seth Arnold, Caitlin Arnold, McKenna Arnold; 1 great great grandchild, Brayden Morris; sisters, Evelyn Matthews and husband Lehman, Ginger Hulett and husband Thomas; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
