

USAF Retired Master Sgt Larry James Hyatt, 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, June 8, 2015. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Lance Merritt officiating. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Rd., Macon, 31210, or Gideons International Bibles, 524 Poplar St., Macon, 31201.
Larry was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina and graduated from Sylva High School in 1960. His parents, William E. (Wimpy) Hyatt and Effie Virginia (nee Carson), and brother, Robert Ransom Hyatt, all of Sylva, North Carolina, and wife Dorothy (Dot) Snow-Cumbess-Hyatt of Macon, Georgia, preceded him in death.
Larry retired in 1981 from the USAF, serving tours of duty of Texas, North Carolina, Maine, Georgia, England, Korea, and Vietnam. His service medals include the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 2 stars; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with device; Vietnam Service Medal with 4 devices; Meritorious Service Medal with 2 devices; Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 devices; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor; plus other medals, awards, etc. Larry was also an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing.
Larry was a life member of VFW Post 658 and the DAV-6. He served as VFW Post 658 Quartermaster, 1999-2001. He also belonged to the American Legion and enjoyed being in FOE 977 and Freedom Park Seniors Joy Club.
Survivors are his step-daughters, Elaine Snow Swisher (Chuck), Brenda Snow Cauble (George), both of Macon, Georgia and Glenda Snow Hall (Tom) of Melbourne, Florida; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and best friend, Sarah Simmons of Macon.
